Wienen Wins as Maxxis Sweeps Podium at ATV Open

9/04/2008

Maxxis ruled at the Steel City ATV Open, held August 31 in Delmont, Pennsylvania. Chad Wienen took the victory - and a $10,000 prize - after grabbing the lead on the third lap. Wienen’s teammate Dustin Wimmer scored the second spot on the podium, with the Maxxis-sponsored Josh Upperman in third place.

“This is the icing on the cake. I'm speechless. I've never won a championship before so this is a good start for me," Wienen said. "When I'm good and healthy, I think I'm a threat to win every weekend. That's my drive every single week. I just know I have it in me to win. I was headstrong even when I was down and out. I was injured this year, but I always believed I could finish out the year strong."

Wienen’s and Wimmer’s fellow MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki team member Doug Gust also had a good day, grabbing the holeshot. The ATV Open was a bonus at the end of an outstanding year for the team, as Wimmer took the ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA/ATVA championship, Gust nabbed third place overall and Wienen took sixth place for the series.

Maxxis congratulates Chad Wienen on his victory and thanks all of these riders for their outstanding performances.
