Baron 2nd at WORCS ATV Round 2

2/15/2012

Maxxis/H&M Motorsports’ Beau Baron took second place at Round 2 of the WORCS ATV series, held February 10-12 in Primm, Nevada.

Baron, who took the victory in the series’ opener three weeks earlier, was pleased with his finish. “I'm pretty pumped,” he said. “I didn't expect too much of myself today because I had been laying low after the first race because of my wrist. I was thinking I was going to run out of steam, but for some reason I put my head down and ended up pulling it off. I'm happy about the second." With 47 points, Baron is now tied for the series’ overall Pro points lead.

Teammate David Haagsma also did well at Round 2, taking fourth place despite sustaining a hand injury during the race. "The race went great,” he said. “I got a decent start and just worked my way up. I had the lead for a couple laps and got passed by [another rider]. I had some problems with my hand and just couldn't hold on. I ended up salvaging fourth." Both Baron and Haagsma trusted Maxxis Razr 2 fronts and Razr Xc rears for Round 2.

Maxxis’ riders triumphed over a rough course to take the top two spots in Side x Side Production 1000. Robert Vanbeekum won the class on Maxxis’ new Vipr tires. “Nothing compares to this new Vipr,” he said. “The traction is unbelievable. At high speeds when I turn the car, I get an immediate response, and that allowed me to drive the car faster and harder in the turns than I have ever been able to.” Maxxis rider Ryan Piplic joined Vanbeekum on the podium in second place. With this finish plus a class win at Round 1, Piplic has the early season class points lead.

Maxxis thanks Beau Baron, David Haagsma, Ryan Piplic and all its riders for their fine performances and congratulates Robert Vanbeekum on his victory.
