Maxxis Rider Buchanan Wins 4X at UCI MTB World Championships
9/10/2009Maxxis’ sponsored rider Caroline Buchanan won women’s four cross at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, held September 1-6 in Canberra, Australia.
Buchanan, a native Australian, took an early lead in the final four cross race and was elated by her victory. “This is just so emotional for me to do it in my hometown and to have all my family here,” she told cyclingnews.com. “On the podium, I could see all my friends, everyone I have gone to school with, my butcher, my hairdresser, everyone - absolutely everyone is here, so it's just an awesome feeling."
Other Maxxis riders also did well at the Championships, taking several top ten spots. Maxxis-Rocky Mountain’s Geoff Kabush and the Luna Pro Team’s Catharine Pendrel rode for Canada in the team relay, and the Canadian crew finished just six seconds behind the lead team to take second place. Kabush later went on to take fifth place in men’s cross country, while Multivan Merida’s Jose Antonio Hermida Ramos took fourth. Pendrel took 6th place in women’s cross country, with Maxxis-Rocky Mountain’s Marie-Helene Premont in 12th.
Maxxis congratulates Caroline Buchanan on her victory and thanks all of these riders for their outstanding performances.
