Dahle Flesjaa, Gould on XC World Championship Podium
9/10/2012Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjaa and Georgia Gould rode Maxxis tires to the UCI cross country World Championship podium, taking second and third places. The race was held September 8 in Austria.
Dahle Flesjaa was part of the front group from the start, while Gould made steady progress for much of the race. Riding Maxxis’ Aspen tires in Austria, Dahle Flesjaa was pleased with her spot on the podium. "I tried to focus on my own race and make as few mistakes as possible while keeping my speed up. I'd focus on each 10m at a time. I think I did pretty well ending up in second. The race kind of settled after the first lap and then, I had to push [myself] to the limit and stay out of trouble. I had a steady race," she told cyclingnews.com.
Gould, of the Luna Pro Team, was third by the final three laps, and maintained her position through to the end of the race despite a crash during the final descent. Gould rode Maxxis’ Ikon tires to UCI World Championship bronze.
