Gould Wins US National XC Championship7/10/2012
After leading for more than half the race, the Luna Pro Team’s Georgia Gould took her third straight title at the US Cross Country National Championships. The championships were held July 7-8 in Sun Valley, Idaho.
"It's special to win. It never gets old,” she told cyclingnews.com. “Every time is special. The national championships, to be able to wear the US national champion's jersey all year, always makes me proud!" The 2012 title is the fourth US National Cross Country Championship of Gould’s career.
Her results were almost as good in short track, where she landed on the podium in second place. Throughout the weekend, Gould’s Maxxis tires were an asset, according to Luna mechanic Chris Mathis: "In Idaho, Georgia chose to use the lightest weight and fastest tire Maxxis offers. The tire choice was the 29" Maxxis Aspen EXC Exception Series that anyone could buy straight off the shelf. This was clearly the best tire she could have used.”
Maxxis congratulates Georgia Gould on her latest US National title and thanks her for choosing the brand of champions.
