Luna Sweeps Bump’n’Grind Podium

6/02/2009

The 2009 Bump’n’Grind podium belonged entirely to the Luna Pro Team, as Catharine Pendrel took the victory with Georgia Gould and Katerina Nash in second and third place. The US Cup race was held May 31 in Alabama’s Oak Mountain State Park.

All three riders were part of the lead group at the beginning of the race. "After the first lap Katie, Georgia and I were working together and pulling our share," Pendrel told cyclingnews.com. "But Katie dabbed on one of the climbs and she wasn't able to close the gap. [Then] Georgia and I were off the front. That's where we really started to work like a team. We tried to drive the pace as hard as we could. I don't win many sprints, so I knew if I could jump the last corner I could win…and that's what I did." Pendrel and Gould fought a spirited race in the final lap, with Pendrel finishing in 1.29.38 hours and Gould following just one second later.

Pendrel, Gould and Nash each rode Maxxis CrossMarks for the race. With its continuous knob center, the CrossMark rolls fast on hardpack, while its partially spaced side knobs ensure cornering perfection.
Maxxis congratulates Catharine Pendrel on her victory and thanks Georgia Gould and Katerina Nash for their outstanding performances.
