Maxxis’ Ramirez Takes WORCS Pro 2 Title; Maxxis Sweeps Women’s Class

9/11/2012

The WORCS motorcycle season wrapped up with Maxxis riders claiming championships and top-five finishes. Ivan Ramirez won the Pro 2 championship, while Tatum Sik won the Women’s title and Kacy Martinez and Nicole Madsen took second and third place for the season. The series’ final race of 2012 was held September 7-9 in Taft, California.

Ramirez turned in a season of great performances, with three victories, five second-place finishes and 207 points to his credit. The RPM Racing rider, who finished on the podium in all but one race, praised the Maxxis tires he counted on throughout the year: "We had the power, we had the durability and we had the tires. Maxxis tires worked great at all the different track conditions. There were sand tracks, hard pack, rocky, loamy and muddy races this year, but I always felt in control and had good traction with Maxxis tires."

Sik racked up five wins and four second-place finishes during the season, and accumulated a total of 213 points. Martinez and Madsen also did well, with four wins and five podiums for Martinez and seven podiums for Madsen.

In the Pro class, Ryan Abbatoye rode consistently all year to a fourth-place overall finish. Despite being sidelined early in the season by an injury, Ramirez’ teammate Josh Strang turned in several strong performances, including two trips to the podium, and took seventh place in the Pro class.

Maxxis congratulates Ivan Ramirez and Tatum Sik on their championships and thanks all of its riders for a season of outstanding performances.
