Maxxis Sweeps ATV Podium at GNCC Finale; Thomas XC2 Motorcycle Champion11/08/2012
The GNCC season ended on a triumphant note for Maxxis, as the company’s sponsored riders swept the ATV podium at the final round and Jason Thomas took home the XC2 Pro Lites motorcycle title. Additionally, FAR Husqvarna’s Andrew Delong took the XC2 Pro Lites motorcycle win for the day at Round 13, held November 3-4 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
XC1 Pro ATV champion Chris Borich, who clinched this season’s title at Round 10, took his tenth victory of the year at Round 13. Borich won the race despite a crash on a severely off-camber turn early on: “I went out wide to square it up and make a good run at passing the guys. I came in and slid sideways a bit on the roots, and it just kicked and tumbled right on me. I bent the brake lever down and broke my throttle housing.”
Taylor Kiser joined Borich on the podium, in second place for the day and third in XC1 for the year. Walker Fowler, who took his first XC1 victory at the previous round, took third place for the day and second overall for the class. All three riders fought hard for the entire two-hour race, counting on Razr rears and Razr 2 fronts over the grueling, rocky course.
Thomas’ second-place performance for the day in XC2 earned him the class championship, while Delong’s win clinched his third-place overall spot. Thomas praised the performance of his Maxxcross tires. “The final round of the GNCC championship was dry, dusty and rocky, and my [Maxxcross] SI tires hooked up off the start,” he said. “I got out to second place early. The track had some loose rocks, hardpack conditions, and dusty, rutted-out sections! The tires hooked up in all these conditions really well, and I was able to take home second on the day and wrap up the Pro Lites championship for 2012!”
Maxxis congratulates Chris Borich, Jason Thomas and Andrew Delong and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances throughout an exciting season.
