Mtn. Khakis’ Keough Wins Tour of Somerville; TIBCO’s Guarnier 3rd at Stage 3 of Exergy Tour

Luke Keough racked up another victory for the season with a win at the Tour of Somerville, the longest-running major bicycle race in the U.S. The Tour was held May 28 in Somerville, Kentucky. Team TIBCO’s Megan Guarnier also earned a podium spot at a major race with her third-place showing at Stage 3 of the Exergy Tour, held May 27 in Idaho City, Idaho.

Keough was aided by four of his Mountain Khakis teammates, who reeled in a three-man break toward the end of the race. The Tour of Somerville is known as the Kentucky Derby of cycling, and has been run every year since 1940, interrupted only by World War II.

Guarnier’s podium came by way of a sprint to the finish line. Just 40 riders out of the 90 who began the race made it past the final climb for the bunch sprint. Guarnier, who hopes to compete in the Olympics in London this summer, earned qualifying points through her strong finish.

Maxxis congratulates Luke Keough on his victory and thanks Megan Guarnier for her outstanding performance.
