New Yankee Stadium Opens with Maxxis
3/27/2009When the first pitch is thrown at the new Yankee Stadium, the brand of champions will be a strong presence. Maxxis’ signage will be featured behind home plate during the first half-inning, when pitcher Chien-Ming Wang, with an MLB record of 54 wins and only 20 losses, will start the game. Wang is a native of Taiwan, home of Maxxis’ global headquarters. The New York Yankees play their first game at the new venue April 3, in an exhibition against the Chicago Cubs.
Constructed at a cost of $1.3 billion, the new Yankee Stadium is one of the biggest building projects in the Bronx in more than 50 years. Seating over 52,000, the stadium features fan-friendly amenities, including 1400 video screens and a 59 x 101-foot high definition LED screen above center field. The stadium also pays tribute to the Yankees’ storied history, with more than 1400 photos hung throughout the facility and a Great Hall featuring 39-foot-high images of legendary Yankees players.
Maxxis is proud to be an official tire sponsor of the New York Yankees, with signage featured for half an inning during every other home game throughout the 2009 season. A winner of 26 World Series and 39 American League pennants, the team is popular with baseball fans all over the world.
