Sutherland Keeps Sprint Leader Jersey at Tour of Utah Team Time Trial

8/09/2012

Team UnitedHealthcare’s fifth-place finish at the Tour of Utah’s team time trial allowed Rory Sutherland to keep the XO Communications Sprint Leader’s Jersey, as the tour moves into the third of its six stages. Stage 2, the team time trial, was held August 8 in Ogden and Salt Lake City.

Strong winds combined with temperatures of more than 100 degrees made conditions challenging for every team in the tour. UHC General Manager and Team Director Mike Tamayo said he was pleased with the results: “We were within 15 seconds of [two other teams], and I’ll take that result any day for a team of our caliber. So we’re very happy with it. We’re still in the sprinter’s jersey, so we’ll focus on that for now as there’s another stage tomorrow. We’ve been on the podium two days in a row, and that’s a good thing.” Now in tenth place overall, Sutherland, who won the tour’s first stage, is working to win the overall general classification.

Maxxis thanks Team UnitedHealthcare for its ongoing strong performance in the Tour of Utah and wishes them the best in the remaining stages.
