Wimmer Regains ATV MX Lead with Round 9 Win
7/21/2009With victories in both motos of Round 9, Dustin Wimmer has retaken the lead in the ATV MX Nationals’ overall standings. Wimmer took his fifth win of the season at the Pleasure Valley National, held July 18-19 in Armagh, Pennsylvania.
Wimmer, who also won Round 8, was delighted by the results of the closely contested race. "It all happened so quick," he told atvmotocross.com of the second moto. "I was just trying to get around [another rider] to get some points back for second place, and we came over that tabletop side by side, and I guess they got tangled up, and I went right around them. It happened so quick I didn't really know what happened!" The victory boosted Wimmer’s overall points to 335, 29 more than the next rider.
Teammate Doug Gust also had a good weekend at Pleasure Valley, taking the holeshot in the first moto, where he finished third. Gust took second place in the next moto, crossing the finish line directly after Wimmer.
