Maxxis Sponsors Tour de Georgia 2007

3/22/2007

The Tour de Georgia can count on Maxxis just like customers can count on our tires. Maxxis, a sponsor since the tour’s inaugural year, will again support the internationally renowned race in 2007. Scheduled for April 16-22, the Tour de Georgia is expected to attract 15 world-class teams, hundreds of thousands of spectators, and massive media attention.

As the tour expands to seven days, Maxxis has expanded its support to include the Maxxis Time Trial in Chattanooga, Tennessee. As in previous years, the company will offer the Maxxis Madness shows at each finish line, featuring stunts and gravity-defying tricks from Team DK BMX, and the Maxxis Sprint Leader jersey, worn by the rider who has accumulated the most points after a sprint. Maxxis also sponsors several teams competing in the tour, including Health Net presented by Maxxis, Jittery Joe’s, and Colavita/Sutter Homes.

"The Tour de Georgia has become a tradition at Maxxis. I cannot imagine April without scores of world-class athletes and thousands of screaming fans enjoying the southern spring. Maxxis is proud to be an integral part of the race by sponsoring both the teams and the event," said Brad Klipping, assistant manager of Maxxis’ bicycle department.

The tour’s 600-mile route covers some of the most beautiful scenery in the US. The 12 host cities and venues include Peachtree City; Macon; Thomaston; Rome; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Chickamauga; Lookout Mountain; Brasstown Bald; Dalton; Lake Lanier Islands; Stone Mountain Park; and Atlanta. Since its inception, the tour has benefited the Georgia Cancer Coalition, which works to strengthen cancer prevention, research, and treatment in Georgia.
