Borich, Baron Win in Big Weekend for Maxxis ATV and Motorcycle

Chris Borich and Beau Baron won the latest rounds of the GNCC and WORCS series during a weekend which saw Maxxis’ ATV and motorcycle riders on podiums across the country.

Defending GNCC champion Borich took his fourth XC1 Pro victory of the year with a pass the last lap. His fellow Maxxis rider, AmPro Yamaha’s Walker Fowler, joined him on the podium in third place, while Chris Bithell, who held the lead for much of the race, took fourth place. Round 6 of the GNCC season was held May 10-11 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

The story was equally good for Maxxis in XC2 Pro Am, with Fowler’s teammate Cole Richardson taking the win and SICC Racing’s Marshall Goings taking second place. Maxxis took two podium spots in WXC, with Kylie Ahart and Alicia McCormick taking second and third place. Michael Swift made the 4×4 Pro podium in third place, while the legendary Mike Penland took third place in the 4×4 Senior class.

Across the country in Ridgecrest, California, an aggressive Baron gained the lead by end of the second lap at Round 5 of WORCS. He later came back from a stall to battle another rider for the lead, and in the last lap, again grabbed the front spot. Fellow Maxxis rider David Haagsma took third place, and also took second place in SxS 1000. Baron earned another victory during the weekend when he won the SxS Pro race, with fellow Maxxis rider Mitch Guthrie in second place. Donna Ellsworth won the Women A class, while husband Rick made a trip to the podium when he took first place in 50+A and third place in 30+A. Matt Hancock took second place in Open A for Maxxis. The race was held May 9-11.

California was also the setting for a Maxxis victory two weeks earlier, when SCORE International held its first-ever Imperial Valley 250. The team of Mike Cafro and Javier Robles won the inaugural race, held April 25-27 in Plaster, Claifornia. Cafro and Robles lead the Pro Quad points race going into the SCORE Baja 500 in June.

Maxxis’ sponsored motorcycle riders did well during the past weekend, with Justin Seeds taking third place in WORCS Pro, Travis Coy winning Pro 2 and taking second place in 450A, and Michael Del Fante taking the victory in Pro 2 Lights and second place in 250A. In the GNCC, Lucas Towery was third in Sportsman A and fourth overall in the A.M. race. Craig Delong won the 250A class, and at 13th overall was the top amateur. Doug Blackwell won the GNCC Senior A class.

Maxxis congratulates Chris Borich, Beau Baron, Cole Richardson, Donna Ellsworth, Rick Ellsworth, Mike Cafro, Javier Robles. Travis Coy, Michael Del Fante, Craig Delong and Doug Blackwell on their victories, and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
