Brown, Wienen 1-2 at ATV MX Round 5

Maxxis Yamaha’s Thomas Brown took the overall victory with Chad Wienen in second place at ATV MX Round 5, held May 30-31 in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

The day began on a high note for Maxxis as Joel Hetrick won both the Top Qualifier Award and the holeshot in Moto 1. Hetrick held the lead for the rest of the first race, and crossed the finish line 6.2 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Brown and defending champ Wienen traded positions several times as they battled for second. Wienen finally grabbed second place with a late surge, followed by Brown in third.

Despite a passing storm which created muddy conditions for the second moto, Brown, Wienen and another rider jockeyed for first place throughout the race, with victory for the day and the moto going to Brown. Wienen took second place in the moto and remains first in points for the series’ championship, with 244. A mishap early in the race unfortunately took Hetrick out of contention for the podium, but his win in Moto 1 still left him in fourth place overall for the day, and he is second in overall points with 234. Brown is third overall, with 220 points.

Maxxis congratulates Thomas Brown and Joel Hetrick on their victories at Round 5, and thanks points leader Chad Wienen and all of its riders for their fine performances.
