The world’s most anticipated sporting event rolls around every four years, drawing an international audience of billions. At this year’s contest, Maxxis is proud that cyclists rode its tires in mountain biking, BMX, road and every other cycling discipline.
Among the winners in Brazil was Nino Schurter, who chose to ride Maxxis in men’s cycling/mountain bike. Schurter posted a final time of 1 hour, 33 minutes, 28 seconds to take the victory. The Swiss National Team rider also competed in London in 2012, winning second, and in Beijing in 2008, taking third place.
Competing for Canada, the Catharine Pendrel took third place in women’s cycling/mountain bike. Pendrel’s achievement was all the more notable in light of the fact that she came back after a crash early in the race; she finished in 1 hour 31 minutes 41 seconds, 2 seconds ahead of the next rider.
Carlos Ramirez took third place in cycling/BMX on behalf of his native Colombia. “I enjoyed it a lot, and only now, in my home country, am I starting to realize what I have hanging around my neck," he told latino.foxnews.com.
Also riding Maxxis at the international competition were Carlos Oquendo – BMX, Team Colombia; the Eva Lechner – MTB, Team Italy; Katarina Nash – MTB, Team Czech Republic; Chloe Woodruff – MTB, Team USA; Caroline Buchanan – BMX, Team Australia; Linda Villumsen – road cycling, time trial, Team New Zealand; Rushlee Buchanan – road cycling, team pursuit, Team New Zealand; and Laura Brown – road cycling, team pursuit, Team Canada.
