By the second lap, the pair was battling nearly 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Fowler soon gained the lead and held it through to the finish line. \u201cAt the beginning of the year, I really struggled with starts, so a second-place start was more than enough,\u201d the N-Fab\/AmPro Yamaha\/Maxxis\/Lonestar\u2019s told gnccracing.com. \u00a0\u201cI knew I needed to either beat McGill or be right behind him, and all I could think was that the guy I needed to beat was in front on me.\u201d Fowler upped his overall XC1 points lead to 19 with his victory.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other Maxxis riders also did well at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerlinepark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Powerline Park\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Powerline Park<\/a>. Maxxis\/B. Neal Motorsports\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/brycen.neal.5\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Brycen Neal\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brycen Neal<\/a>\u00a0took fourth place in XC1 Pro for the day; Neal is fifth overall in the XC1 points race. Bithell Racing\/Maxxis\/Precision-backed rider\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Bithell-Racing-244218577415\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Chris Bithell\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Bithell<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>was sixth in the race and is seventh overall for the class. Maxxis\/BNR\/Moose\u2019s Josh Merritt made the top ten, taking ninth place for the day. Fowler\u2019s teammate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/colerichardsonracing\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Cole Richardson\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cole Richardson<\/a><span>\u00a0had gained an insurmountable lead in XC2 Pro Am by Round 12, and so chose to focus his efforts on XC1 Pro at the race.
