Fowler Wins GNCC ATV Round 12

As the GNCC season nears its conclusion, Walker Fowler is turning up the heat, taking his third victory of the season at Round 12. The race was held October 12 in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Fowler was in contention for the lead from the start of the race, along with fellow Maxxis rider Chris Borich, who has already clinched the 2013 championship. Fowler gained the lead halfway through the two-hour event, and traded it with another rider several times before crossing the finish line first. “I got off to the best start all season. I was into the woods in second,” he said. “It was really dry and hard-packed. Then of course there’s always some standing water in places, so you would go from completely desert-dry to total slop. The traction remained spot-on for the entire race, and I was able to make a last-ditch pass for the win!” Borich also did well, taking third place, and Maxxis rider Chris Bithell finished in fourth despite a first-lap crash that cost him nearly two minutes. With one race left in the season, Fowler is second in points for XC1 Pro and Bithell is third.

Other Maxxis riders also did well at Round 12, including Marshall Goings, who took ninth place overall in the College A class. Brycen Neal, who previously wrapped up the XC2 Pro AM title with 8 wins and 280 points, competed in XC1 at Round 12 and took 12th place overall. Landon Wolfe was 13th overall, winning the XC2 class, with Josh Merritt and Nathan Thomas in 15th and 16th places.

The sport ATV wins weren’t the only Maxxis victories of the day: Michael Swift of Team UXC Racing took first in the U2 utility class on Vipr tires, and also won the XC2 Limited SxS race.

Maxxis congratulates Walker Fowler and Michael Swift on their victories and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
