Walker wins GNCC Championship

WALKER WINS GNCC CHAMPIONSHIP; 5 MAXXIS RIDERS IN TOP TEN

Walker Fowler has ridden his Maxxis tires to the GNCC Racing presented by Maxxis championship. Fowler sealed his hold on the title at the season’s last race, Ironman, held October 31 in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Fowler’s fourth place finish at Ironman put him over the top in XC1 Pro points. He concluded the season with a total of 324, after taking seven wins and three additional trips to the podium in 2015. The N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar rider, who finished second overall for the previous three seasons, was both amazed and grateful in comments to gnccracing: “By losing the championship last year, I learned a lot. I had to pick up the pieces and reset. I cannot thank my family enough; they are really the most important thing in helping me get up here. It is an honor to be the champion of this series. This is surreal.”

Another Maxxis rider had a big day as well. Cole Richardson, who clinched the XC2 Pro Am title earlier in the season, competed in XC1 Pro at Ironman and made the podium in second place for the day. Bithell Racing/Maxxis/Precision’s Chris Bithell joined Richardson on the XC1 podium in third place, and earned sixth place for the year. Six-time defending XC1 Pro champion Chris Borich took fourth place overall in the class, while Maxxis/B. Neal Motorsports’s Brycen Neal was fifth for the year and sixth in the day’s race. Cody Collier took third place overall in XC2, while Fowler’s teammate Blake Tornes cracked the overall top ten by taking ninth place for the class. Young Korie Steede was fourth for the year in the Super Mini (12-13) class, after taking two victories and two additional trips to the podium.

Maxxis congratulates Walker Fowler on his championship and on the many years of hard work which have led him to this point, and thanks him for proving yet again that Maxxis is the brand of champions. The company thanks all of its sponsored riders for a season of exciting performances.
