Maxxis-Sponsored Team Honda Research 1st in B-spec and 3rd in the 2wd classes at Oregon Trail Rally

Riding Maxxis tires, Team Honda Research braved rugged conditions and bad weather to claim a spot on the podium at the 2014 Oregon Trail Rally. The rally, the third and latest round in the 2WD Rally America National Championships, was held May 2-4 in Portland, Oregon.

Honda Senior Engineer James Robinson was pleased with the performance of the team’s Maxxis tires: “We had a great race here at the 2014 Oregon Trail Rally with the Honda Performance Development/Maxxis Honda Fit. This was our first time to run the Maxxis R19 gravel tire, and we were very pleased with its overall durability and grip level. This event has everything from loose gravel, tarmac, rough and rocky trails to muddy forest roads.  In all conditions, the R19 tire gave us the confidence to drive our B-Spec Fit on the limit! After 18 stages over three days of competition, the great performance of the R19 Maxxis tire enabled us to win the B-Spec class and even get an overall 2WD Podium finish.” TV fans of Maxxis tires, Honda Performance Development, and rally racing can catch the event when it airs in the U.S, June 1 at 6:00 EDT on the NBC Sports Network.

The team’s excellent performance at the Oregon Trail Rally comes on the heels of two victories and an overall 2WD podium finish in the season’s first two rounds. Maxxis joins HPD to sponsor the team in 2014, their second season.

Maxxis congratulates Team Honda Research and HPD on an outstanding race and wishes them the best at Round 4 of Rally America’s National Championship, scheduled for May 30-31 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.  To read more about the Oregon Trail Rally, please click here: http://blog.hpd.honda.com/2014/05/oregon-trail-rally.html
