Shirley Wins Ultra 4 Championship

Shirley Wins Ultra 4 Championship

Earning the points he needed to win it all, Levi Shirley clinched his Ultra 4 championship at the season’s last event, held October 16-17 in Reno, Nevada. Maxxis is the title sponsor of Shirley’s vehicle.

“The race went good. I won the points overall,” said Shirley. “I could have driven harder [in the final race], but I had to keep the bigger picture in mind. It was a huge challenge not to drive harder. Any time that helmet goes on, it’s like you’re a different person. I’m competitive when it comes to everything from checkers to racing; I’m just wired that way. I was fifth, so I was in the top five [for the day].”

“Last year, when I was European champion overseas, I told myself I was going to win the U.S. championship,” he continued. “We have our share of ups and downs through the year, and it’s funny how we never gave up. We’ve persevered. My Maxxis tires were great. At this race, the track was full of rocks. The terrain was some of the nastiest we’ve faced all year. I didn’t have one single failure throughout practice and qualifying, prelims and finals. I’ll race King of the Hammers on those same tires. We’ve got the SEMA show right around the corner in about two weeks, and I’m looking forward to a little bit of down time with the family, too.”

Maxxis congratulates Levi Shirley on his championship and thanks him for a season of excellent performances. The company is proud to have its products associated with this outstanding young rider. (For more on Levi Shirley, check out the next issue of MaxxDaddy.)
