Maxxis Riders on Podium at Winston Salem Cycling Classic

Team SmartStop Pro Cycling’s Travis McCabe took a win at the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic, with four other Maxxis-sponsored riders also earning spots on the podium. The Winston-Salem Cycling Classic was held April 18 in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

McCabe won the 15-lap road race with a pass on the final climb, and was joined on the podium by teammate Zachary Bell, who took third place. “This is huge,” McCabe told cyclingnews.com. “The team is based out of Winston-Salem. It’s our home town, so it was a race we really wanted to win. The team was always there in all the moves and all of the splits. It’s a big win for us. We’re really excited.”

The Winston-Salem criterium also held good news for Maxxis, with Team TIBCO’s Joanne Kiesanowski and UnitedHealthcare’s Alison Powers placing second and third in the women’s race, and Powers’ teammate Luke Keough taking second place in the men’s race. Kiesanowski overcame a mid-race mechanical problem, with her teammates assisting her in vying for the front spot. “It was crazy and hectic the last few laps. A lot of elbowing. You had to hold your ground. My track experience definitely helped,” she told cyclingnews.com.

Maxxis congratulates Travis McCabe on his victory and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
