World Cup XCO, DH Finals at La Bresse

The World Cup season finals at La Bresse left Maxxis’ sponsored riders holding eight spots in the men’s DH overall top ten as well as the top two overall men’s XCO spots. Maxxis’ riders took five top ten spots in men’s DH and three in men’s XCO at the La Bresse races, the last before next week’s World Championships.

Overcoming a muddy, rocky course, Nino Schurter of Scott-SRAM MTB Racing took first place in both the weekend’s race and overall men’s XCO standings. Corendon-Circus rider Mathieu Van der Poel took second place overall for the season, while Gerhard Kerschbaumer of Torpado Gabogas earned second place for the day and fifth overall.

The terrain was even nastier for DH after days of rain were capped by showers during the event, but Madison Saracen Factory Team’s Danny Hart secured second place for the season after taking seventh place for the day. Troy Brosnan of Canyon Factory Downhill Team is third for the year and just missed the top ten for the day in 11th place. Santa Cruz Syndicate’s Loris Vergier took fourth place overall, MS Mondraker’s Laurie Greenland took fifth, and Greenland’s teammate Brook MacDonald took sixth place for the year. MacDonald also landed on the podium at La Bresse, taking third place. Santa Cruz rider Luca Shaw earned eighth place for the year, and Kona Factory Team’s Connor Fearon rounded out the top ten for the season.

Other Maxxis riders who did well in Elite men’s DH at La Bresse included Pivot Factory Racing’s Bernard Kerr, who was fifth for the day, and Intense Factory Racing’s Jack Moir, who took ninth place. Valentina Holl won Junior women’s DH, and SRAM Young Guns Racing’s Paula Zibasa took second place.

In Under 23 men’s XCO, Petter Fagerhaug won the day and topped the season’s overall rankings. Megamo Factory Team’s Jofre Cullell Estape earned second place for the day. Clif Pro Team’s Haley Batten took fifth place for the day in the Under 23 women’s race.

Maxxis congratulates all of these fine riders and looks forward to cheering them on at the World Championships, scheduled for September 4-9 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
