Maxxis Moves Forward with Plans for Plant in India

Maxxis’ latest expansion project recently took another step forward with a visit by company Chairman Tsai-Jen Lo to the chief minister of the Indian state of Gujarat.

Chairman Lo and Chief Minister Anandiben Patel finalized plans for Maxxis’ plant in Gujarat, slated to be ready for operation in early 2017. Maxxis, also known as Cheng Shin Rubber Ind. Co., Ltd. in much of the world, is expected to spend around US$400 million on the project.

The plant, Maxxis’ first in India, will initially manufacture motorcycle tires and tubes for companies including Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki, and is projected to produce around 20,000 units per day at capacity. Occupying 106 acres, the facility will be located in the Sanand Industrial Estate near Ahmedabad and will eventually employ close to 2,000 people. The Gujarat plant will join ten other Maxxis plants located throughout Asia.

Maxxis looks forward to the completion of this project, and thanks Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and everyone involved for their efforts in bringing the company’s new factory to Gujarat.
