Maxxis tyre wins quad bike test

The magazine "4x4 Australia" recently conducted an extensive track deck test on a variety of clay terrain tires. The test was carried out in the least comfortable environment of the tyres – on asphalt – where each tyre was tested at different points, and maxxis Razr M/T ended up winning in total.

“4×4 Australia” prepared its track deck test on the assumption that “most people drive on asphalt-based surfaces and our tests show that’s where clay terrain tyres show their weaknesses.” A clay terrain tyre is at the extreme end of the four-wheel tyre design, these tires are known not to be so good on normal roads due to noise, grip and wear. The test was designed to evaluate these points.

The test involved several quad bikes from Bridgestone Duels M/T to BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 with Kumho and Sunwide tires as well. The test points were based on wet and dry braking, cornering and price, with observation commentary along the way.

“… Maxxis had at least 1.3 m shorter braking distance than all competitors (in wet braking)… The good grip in wet and dry meant that Maxxis performed well at all points, either at its best or as very good in each category.” – 4×4 Australia magazine.

Razr M/T captured a clear first place, with a total of 401.4 points compared to 393.0 points for the Bridgestone tyre (second place) and 392.4 points for the Kumho tyre (third place).

“… it was Maxxis Razr who performed best in our tests…”

In addition to the test measurements, 4×4 Australia also wrote that they found that the Maxxis tyre was very durable despite the demanding test conditions.

“Maxxi’s tyres were also among the best to protect their outer edges when they had to take a lot
ironing …”

Razr M/T is Maxxi’s flagship clay terrain tyre, and is available for purchase in over 100 countries.
