Levi grew up in the small town of Dodge City, Kansas where he watched his dad, Brian Shirley, race stock cars. Early on, the younger Shirley developed a passion for racing. When Levi was just nine, he got behind the wheel and started go-kart racing at the local track. At 13, he moved up to miniature stock cars, winning multiple races and capping the season by winning the overall in 2005. In 2008, at 15, he proved he had what it takes to compete and finished his first season racing in the XORRA series, consistently placing in the top ten. The following year, proving his accomplishments were no fluke, Levi became the youngest driver to ever win an XORRA event.
Returning to the podium multiple times in 2009, he place third in XORRA points in both the East and West Coast series. In 2010, Levi not only graduated from high school but also became the Colorado Hill Climb Associations’ Rookie of the Year. Now Levi is a full time college student and races all over the country competing in the Ultra 4, Dirt Riot, and Outlaw Desert Racing Series. In 2011 Levi finished seventh in overall points for the Ultra 4 Series and was also voted Sportsman of the Year unanimously by all competing drivers.
