    The GTÜ, ACE und ARBÖ Summer Tyre Test 2021 tested a mixture of premium and mid-range tyres, highly recommending only one premium tyre and three mid-range tyres.

    The test assessed wet and dry performance, environment (noise and rolling resistance) and price, awarding the Maxxis Premitra 5 152 points, just 5 points less than the test winner.

    The Vi Bilägare Summer Tyre Test 2021 tested the abilities of the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance, Continental PremiumContact 6, Michelin Primacy 4, Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2, Nokian Hakka Blue 2, Landsail Sentury Qirin 990, HiFly HF80S and of course the Maxxis Premitra 5.

    The test included analysis of wet and dry road driving, wet and dry braking, fuel consumption, wet curve grip and straight and curved aquaplaning. After achieving the top results in dry road driving and aquaplaning, the magazine published:

    2021 Sport Auto Summer Tyre Test

    Of 11 tyres tested, the Premitra 5 was the most affordable tyre on the test and achieved the second-shortest dry braking result.

    The Sport Auto test incorporated high performance tyres from the likes of the Michelin Primacy 4 to the Toyo Proxes Comfort and many more in between.

    The Premitra 5 achieved the second-shortest dry braking distance, beaten only by the Michelin Primacy 4, the performance of which was then exceeded by the Maxxis tyre in the dry handling and straight aquaplaning test, where the Maxxis tyre also exceeded the performance of premium tyres such as Pirelli, Continental, Bridgestone and Hankook.

    In addition, the Premitra 5 was proven to be 41% more affordable than the most expensive tyre on the test. That’s pretty comparable performance for such a huge saving.

    An incredible 53 sets of tyres were tested in this wet and dry braking test; the Premitra 5 came 9th overall.

    Of the massive 53 sets of tyres tested in 205/55 R16 by Auto Bild, the Premitra 5 had the 4th-shortest dry braking distance, and came 17th for wet braking. On the balance of the two, compared to the other premium, mid-range and budget tyres in the test, the Maxxis tyre came 9th overall.

    The ADAC Summer Tyre Test 2021 tested fifteen tyres in size 205/55 R16 on their wet and dry handling, noise, fuel consumption and wear.

    The Premitra 5 was the best tyre in the test for dry roads in terms of handling and safety, achieved good results in the wet, and had the same wear results as the Pirelli Cinturato P7.

    Of 10 tyres tested ranging from premium tyres such as the Goodyear EfficientGrip 2 SUV, Michelin Primacy 4 and more, to mid-range Nokians and Falkens, the Maxxis Premitra 5 impressed in the Auto Bild All Road SUV Summer Tyre Test 2021.

    In addition to the best straight-line aquaplaning results, the Premitra 5 was the second most affordable tyre in the test, and impressed in the mild off-road tests too, achieving third place in both mud and gravel traction.

    It’s worth noting that drivers looking to travel both on and off-road in their SUV are better suited to an all-terrain tyre, but if you travel mainly on the road with a very rare need to drive across mud, gravel or grass, the Premitra 5 might just tick your box at an affordable price.

    The 2020 Tyre Reviews Ultimate Summer Tyre Test tested twelve summer tyres in size 205/55 R16 on a 1.4L VW Golf to determine the strengths and weaknesses of each tyre.

    A range of tyres were tested, from the premium Continental PremiumContact 6, Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2, Michelin Primacy 4, Bridgestone Turanza T005 and Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2, to the not-so-premium Uniroyal Rainsport 5, Nokian WetProof and Goodride RP28.

    The Maxxis Premitra 5 achieved better results than any other tyre in the test when it came to: subjective dry handling; wet handling; and subjective wet handling. It was the only tyre in this test to achieve 3x first-place results.

    As a result, the Maxxis Premitra 5 was classed as a ‘Recommended’ tyre.

    Auto Zeitung HP5 Tyre Test

    Auto Zeitung, one of the most highly-regarded motoring magazines in Germany, has conducted a 20-tyre test of 225/50 R17 summer tyres and concluded that the Maxxis Premitra HP5 is ‘very recommended’ and the ‘recommendation for value’.

    The test, made up of wet and dry handling and braking, aquaplaning, slalom, noise and rolling resistance test, with additional point-based assessments for comfort and driving safety, is a comprehensive evaluation of the current summer tyre market.

    The Maxxis Premitra 5 achieved the best result in dry handling, and the third-best result in the slalom test and the wet handling test, beaten in wet handling only by the competitor tyres awarded first and second place in the tyre test overall (Continental PremiumContact 6 and the Michelin Primacy 4).

    Looking at the points, Maxxis achieved an excellent fourth place overall, and was awarded not only the ‘very recommended’ label but also the ‘recommendation for value’.

    The tyre was also found to be reassuring to drive, rated as the tyre with the safest feel in the dry and the third safest feel in the wet when compared with all the other tyres in the test.

    In addition to two ‘highly recommended’ reviews by both ADAC and Auto Zeitung, the Maxxis Premitra 5 has won the ACE summer tyre test of 2020.

    The test, involving wet and dry braking, straight and curved aquaplaning, wet and dry handling and more, pushed a group of mid-range summer tyres to their limit and compared them against an anonymous premium control tyre.

    The Maxxis tyre convinced the testers after achieving the fastest wet aquaplaning speed, even when compared with the premium control tyre, as well as strong performance in the braking and handling tests too.

    ADAC Maxxis HP5 Tyre Test

    Following a 12-month tyre test, ADAC concluded that both the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 and the Premitra 5 are both ‘highly recommended’ and have achieved second and third place respectively in their separate tests.

    The tyre test was carried out by ADAC, German automobile club, plus other auto clubs and consumer protection organisations globally. The test, lasting 12 months, took wet and dry handling, braking, comfort and noise into account, with a fuel consumption assessment and a wear percentage awarded based on over 10,000km of use.

    The Maxxis Premitra 5 HP5 was included in the 235/55 R17 103W test, and was one of only four tyres to be awarded the ‘highly recommended’ rating. The HP5 scored very well across the board, achieving a joint 3rd place in its final grade.
