Alan Hill gave an impressive performance on the first day of this year’s UCI BMX World Championships, beating six other talented riders in the 45-49 Cruiser category, to finish in a respectable second place on high-performance Maxxis Torch tyres.
The Maxxis sponsored rider is part of the Pure Bicycle Company team and so far this year has held a strong record of securing top spots at major events, including the British BMX Championship. The championships were held at the Rock Hill in South Carolina, USA, with the event attracting an estimated 3,000 participants from more than 40 countries, all of which undertook a rigorous qualification process in 2016 to get the chance to compete. In the 45-49 Cruiser category, Alan was the only rider flying the flag for Great Britain and giving his home country a strong chance of securing an overall podium position. The Torch tyre, chosen by Alan at the event and throughout the year, is designed specifically for competitive conditions, where riders need every advantage they can get over opponents. Designed for a champion’s every need, the tyre’s features include a lightweight design and a tread pattern that helps maximum grip when riding on modern BMX tracks.
