Festival Feast for Ford Fans and more Fun to Follow

It was a family affair at this year’s Ford Fair (Silverstone, August 12), with plenty to see and do for die hard Ford fans and entertainment for their youngsters, and tyre manufacturer Maxxis was in the mix with an eye-catching stand and the lovely Maxxis Babes.

Billed as ‘Europe’s Biggest and Best Ford Festival’ the event included a display of 3,500 club cars from across the UK and Europe; American muscle, including Ford F150s and a GT500 Mustang; a concours of 100 immaculate Ford specimens competing for best standard and best modified car on show plus classics from a bygone era to name but a few.

Those looking for adrenalin pumping excitement could choose to put their own car through its paces or watch stunt displays in the Ford Live Action Arena, where Ford Fair favourite Paul Swift was up against the man who first introduced him to precision driving some 25 years ago – his father Russ!

Maxxis will be back at the home of British motorsport on September 2 for TRAX, which is boosting its status as the ‘Ultimate Performance Car Event’ by hosting round five of the Super Pro class of the Maxxis British Drift Championship.  The exciting demonstration of door-to-door twin drift action will feature Maxxis-sponsored teams SATS Motorsport and Team Japspeed – whose drivers scooped first and second at the last round at Lydden Hill and won the team competition.

Maxxis is currently in pole position with Team Japspeed and SATS Motorsport drivers occupying the top five places in the Super Pro class standings, while the teams are lying first and second in the constructors/team championship before the series heads north for the final round at Knockhill (September 29-30).   TRAX will also stage a display of drift cars and the Maxxis Babes, together with their funky campervan, will be meeting and greeting visitors on the Fast Car stand.

Finally, Maxxis will round off its 2012 performance car show season at VW Players, which takes place at North Weald Airfield, Essex on September 16 and has been singled out by

Performance VW magazine as one of the top shows of the year thanks to its heady mix of ‘quality cars, excellent location and super chilled, laid-back site’.  The Maxxis unit will be a focal point at the show, serving as a stage for the DJs and prize presentations and a base for the Maxxis Babes.

Before the summer ends Maxxis will also be turning its attention to country pursuits, with a visit to the Midland Game and Country Fair at Shropshire’s Weston Park (September 15-16), in conjunction with its exclusive distributor Stapleton’s Tyre Services.  The event is an established showcase for country sports and activities, regularly attracting around 90,000 visitors and attractions will include falconry, wildlife displays, jousting, dog shows, shooting competition and gundog events.
