Ford quality award

The latest Maxxis manufacturing site at Douliu, Taiwan has been awarded Ford’s highest global quality management standard. The tyre making facility joins Maxxis’ Cheng Shin and Taiwan HQ plants in their achievement of Ford’s Q1 certification, which is seen as a benchmark for production quality in the automotive industry.

The Ford Q1 award is presented when a manufacturing site has demonstrated high levels of performance, system capability, manufacturing process and customer satisfaction. Addressing the management and production teams during an award ceremony held at Douliu on 21 January, Maxxis HQ’s quality manager Paul Lin said: “We are glad to share this honour with all of you and we want to say thank you for your support during the period of Q1 accreditation.”

Lin went on to state: “Ensuring the highest standards of production quality are met and maintained is engrained in the Maxxis way of manufacturing. We pride ourselves on maximising efficiency and minimising wastage, and we are very pleased the Ford programme has endorsed our credentials. Ford’s dedication to quality is relentless, so for them to acknowledge we share that passion is very rewarding.”

The ground breaking Maxxis Douliu manufacturing plant cost around USD $100 million was officially opened in 2015. The plant produces automotive spare tyres and motorcycle tyres and is Maxxis’ third in Taiwan’s Yuan Lin County, and sixteenth worldwide.
