There was a huge buzz and a thick air of expectation surrounding the build up to Round 2 of the Maxxis British Drift Championship at Norfolk. It delivered on every level, with some highly competitive and exciting drives from each class; throwing up plenty of drama and surprises that had spectators on the edge of their seats!
The Arena presented a gladiatorial feel to drifting and made for an electric atmosphere that made your spine tingle! Once again, all of the grids were packed to capacity with teams keen to capitalise on their success from Round 1 in Teesside, or to make up lost ground in the hunt for silverware. Nothing gets given, it has to be earned!
The competition gets stronger all the time with some truly world-class drifting being showcased in Norfolk. The Super Pro class epitomised this, with some shock results and some incredibly close battles that required the judges utmost concentration and several OMT’s (One More Time).
In the final battle held under the Norfolk Arena spotlights, the judges required two OMTs and then it was forced to go into sudden-death before the duelling Steve Moore of SATS Motorsport and Paul “Smokey” Smith from Team Japspeed could be separated in an epic, nail-biting battle!
Moore did just enough to snatch the first place glory. We’ve come to expect high standards and action within the Maxxis British Drift Championship, but this year the drama and overpowering tension is on another level!
