Maxxis UK has stepped-up its efforts to inspire the next generation of mountain biking pros after being chosen as the title sponsor of the Steve Peat Syndicate.
The agreement enables the brand to heighten its visibility across a variety of team assets, as well as at some of the biggest events on the MTB circuit this year, including the British Downhill Series and the PMBA Enduro Series.
Partnering with Maxxis for a third year, the Steve Peat Syndicate (SPS) is a mixed team of downhill and enduro riders, ranging from budding amateurs to World Cup pros. Open across the world, members receive and own a specialist Santa Cruz bike and branded kit, alongside expert training, mentoring and the opportunity to be part of a worldwide team.
Commenting on renewal of the partnership, Steve Peat said: “Maxxis tyres gave me an edge over the competition during my racing days, so I’m thrilled to be continuing my relationship with the brand.
“Finding new, exciting talent is a passion close to my heart, having looked up to so many brilliant riders in the business when I was first starting out. It’s great to be in a position to give back and I’m looking forward to playing my part in mentoring the team over the course of the year.”
SPS riders will benefit from access to a range of Maxxis tyres for their competitive events in 2018, with the puncture protection technology of the Maxxis Double Down tyres set to prove a popular choice for enduro events. Meanwhile, the downhill races will see riders on a mix of treads across the Maxxis MTB catalogue, including the Shorty, Minion DHF, Minion DHR and the legendary High Roller II
Speaking on the renewal of the partnership and what it means to the brand, Maxxis UK’s brand manager for bicycle tyres, Stephen Robinson, said: “Peaty has worked with Maxxis since his racing days and is an absolute legend in the mountain biking world. It’s a pleasure to continue working with him and helping support the development of amateur riders across the world.
“Taking the leap to title sponsor of the syndicate is a tremendous privilege and is reflective of our commitment to providing high performance tyres that are unrivalled in quality. We’re very much looking forward to seeing how the team performs this year and playing a part in each success along the way.”
As well as the British Downhill Series and the PMBA Enduro Series, the partnership will also see Maxxis UK play a part in several prominent enduro events in 2018, including the ‘Ard Rock Enduro Festival in August, which Maxxis also sponsors.
