Maxxis ‘Drift Spectacular’ Headlines at Japfest 2012

Bumper crowds are expected to turn out for the 10th anniversary of Japfest, Europe's biggest Japanese Car Show, at Castle Combe on Saturday (May 12), when a drift spectacular laid on by the Maxxis British Drift Championship will be the star attraction.

Japfest 2012 is a ‘no brainer’ for drift fans since there will be three extended track sessions throughout the event, during which star drivers from all three classes will be demonstrating their skills and precision in a mass drift train – the like of which has never been seen before in the UK.

It’s also a chance to get up close to the mean machines, as the drift cars competing in this year’s series will be on display in the drift paddock throughout the day.

Tyre manufacturer Maxxis, title sponsor of the Maxxis British Drift Championship, will also have a high profile presence at the show.  Joining Team Japspeed and SATS Motorsport, its two sponsored drift teams, are the Maxxis Babes who, along with their very own ‘BabeMobile’ – the camper-van’s eye-catching design was created by one of their legion of fans – will be posing for photos and handing out Maxxis car stickers.

There will be plenty to see at Japfest, not least the UK’s biggest displays of Japanese cars.  Last year 97 clubs exhibiting over 3,000 cars packed into Castle Combe and for the 10th anniversary event the club displays should be bigger and better than ever.  The Power and Style Awards are back by popular demand, as are passenger rides in BTCC spec Honda Civics and Fast Car magazine’s Culture Corner in association with Maxxis, while visitors looking for action can join in go-karting sessions or put their own car through its paces around the historic Castle Combe circuit.

Japfest is also celebrating its special anniversary with some of its most loyal supporters – the car clubs that have attended each event since it all began back in 2003 – with a cavalcade of some 100 cars doing a slow lap of the track.
