Maxxis ready to turn heads at Modified Nationals

Anticipation was at fever pitch as the Maxxis British Drift Championship rolled into historic Castle Combe for the 10th anniversary of Japfest, Europe's biggest Japanese Car Show, and the huge crowds were not disappointed.

Maxxis-sponsored drift outfit Team Japspeed put on a superb demonstration, not only showcasing the skills of their talented drivers, but also the capabilities of the Maxxis MAZ1 Drift tyre they use in the UK’s premier series, as part of a drift spectacular that certainly got the adrenalin pumping.

Also celebrating ten years at the top is Modified Nationals, the UK’s biggest event dedicated to tuning and performance modifications, and Maxxis will be joining the party.  The show takes place at the Peterborough Showground from 1-3 June and is promising its enthusiastic and loyal following a rich array of modified motors and music to match.

Travelling to the show in their unique campervan, the Maxxis Babes will be based at the Maxxis unit throughout the three days, where they will be busy dishing out car stickers and chatting with fans.  Other highlights at Modified Nationals include the Best Lit Car Display, freestyle motocross stunt riders, the new Built not Bought competition and an autotest competition that gives petrolheads the chance to test their skills out on track by competing against the clock around a set course for a cash prize.

Over 2,500 cars will be in pride of place down at the club stands arena, while the indoor exhibition hall will house a mouth-watering array of the crème de la crème of the UK’s modified and tuned show cars.

Slick entertainment is the name of the game at the After Dark party on the Friday and Saturday nights, with three live stages.  As well as live performances by Devlin & Sway plus support acts,DJ Richie Don and MC Stallion will be taking centre stage for non-stop music, ranging from party, dance and chart to Dub Step and R&B.

These two special anniversary events set the scene for the 2012 car show season, which will see Maxxis visiting Donington Park for Japfest 2: The Evolution on July 8, where performance fans will get the chance to experience white knuckle rides courtesy of the Maxxis British Drift Championship ‘drift taxis’.

Next up is Silverstone and Ford Fair (August 12), which is billed as ‘Europe’s Biggest and Best Ford Festival’ and is a well-established crowd favourite, followed by TRAX at Silverstone on September 2.  Here, drift cars will once again be the star attraction, as TRAX is hosting a round of the Maxxis British Drift Championship.  Maxxis is rounding off its support for the UK’s performance car scene at the VW Players show at North Weald Airfield on September 16.
