Maxxis Tyres are back in action for MX

After what feels like a very long time, motocross championships are finally back up and running after the Covid-19 outbreak. The Prestige Italian championship held its first race on the Italian track of Faenza and Maxxis riders immediately played a leading role winning 2nd place in the Elite MX1 class and the 2nd and 3rd places in the MX2. Maxxis riders rode with the Maxxcross MX-ST tyres both on the front and rear, as they were considered the best due to their performance, grip and directionality on the difficult terrain in Italy, characterized by a mixture of very hard and soft areas.

In the MX1 class, Nicholas Lapucci was the surprise of the day with his 2nd place in his debut with the 450. The Beddini KTM rider played a thrilling head-to-head in both heats with the Yamaha’s Gautier Paulin and could also have prevailed conquering the highest step of the podium if it had not been for a small mistake at the last lap of the final race.

An equally surprising result was that of Gianmarco Cenerelli, who came 2nd overall in the MX2 class, narrowly missing out on 1st place in the first race and 3rd in the final race, despite returning from an injury. This Italian rider thus preceded the reigning champion Mattia Guadagnini, who placed his Husqvarna Maddii Racing in 2nd position after a difficult initial test closed in 6th.

Michele Cervellin proved to be very competitive by crossing the finish line in 3rd place in the first race, but in the following one he was slowed down to 14th position due to the failure of the front brake, so he placed 4th overall. Meanwhile, Alberto Forato opened the day in 5th position, but a crash at the start of the closing race, unfortunately, left him in 9th, with a final place of 5th.
