Taipei Tyre Launch

Maxxis International is once again proving its position at the cutting edge of tyre design innovation, with the launch of three brand new mountain bike tyres at this year’s Taipei Bike Show. The latest additions will not only give trail riders more options, but each new addition will add a new dimension to Maxxis’ already impressive cycle tyre range.

The Maxxis Ikon+ has been designed to enhance Maxxis’ already successful range of XC tyres. Optimised new sizes, tread heights, increased volume, as well as a larger contact patch, ensures that the Ikon+ has the capabilities of providing plus-sized trail bikes with optimum performance. Designed with Maxxis’ 3C Maxx Speed compound technology, specifically formulated to lower rolling resistance and optimise treadwear and traction, means that the Ikon+ has the ability to provide riders with superior speed and performance.

Due to its overall design, the Rekon+ provides riders with ultimate control when riding aggressive singletrack XC trails. Having been developed with Maxxis’ intermediate 3C Maxx Terra compound, the Rekon+ offers riders great traction control, increased treadwear and rolling resistance. Its wide knob in the centre of the tyre provide excellent braking, whilst the L-shaped side knobs give riders the confidence to race more and scout less.

The ForeKaster has been designed to offer riders a great option in between seasons. Its dual compound, mid-height tread pattern, comprising of a hard, longer lasting centre and softer gripping shoulders, means that riders can benefit from increased mud clearance. Having been developed using Maxxis’ EXO technology not only means that it is extremely cut and abrasion resistant, its densely woven material is lightweight and highly flexible ensuring that tyre performance remains unaffected. Its wide-cup knob design on the centre tread has been developed to ensure excellent braking on the boggiest of singletrack conditions.

With an already strong range of bicycle tyres, the latest additions are expected to become some of Maxxis’ bestselling tyres in the trail market, as managing director Derek McMartin confirms: “Adding to our already varied range of cycle tyres with the launch of the Ikon+, Rekon+ and ForeKaster ranges, just demonstrates our continued commitment to ensuring that we provide our customers with the very latest products and technological advancements. Trail bike riders ride on some of the most demanding tracks around the world, so to be able to provide them with the unrivalled performance they expect from Maxxis is crucial.

“We are constantly striving to discover ways in which to improve and innovate our range of tyres, so to have the opportunity to present this innovation to the visitors of this year’s Taipei Bike Show, demonstrates that we are dedicated to providing cyclists with the best products possible.”

The Ikon+ will be available in three versions: 120 TPI folding duel compound (EXO/TR), 120 TPI folding 3C Maxx Speed (EXO/TR), and 120 TPI folding duel compound. Each Ikon+ measures 27.5X2.80. The Rekon+ is also available in two versions: the 60 TPI folding duel compound (EXO/TR) and the 120 TPI folding 3C Maxx Terra (EXO/TR). Each is 27.5X2.80 in size. Meanwhile, the Forekaster is 120 TPI folding dual compound (EXO/TR) and measures 29×2.35.

In addition to the three new product launches, Maxxis will also be using the Taipei Bike Show to unveil new size options to existing ranges, including The Aggressor, The Minion SS, The Ardent Race, The Crossmark II and the legendary downhill tyre, the Wet Scream.
