Team Green Podium

It was another podium start for Team Green Kawasaki UK Youth riders as they kick started the Thor British Youth Nationals with team mate Lewis Hall putting his Maxxis tyres to good use and nailing down second.

It was a much tougher weekend for his big wheeled 85cc team mate Kacey Hird and Jed Etchells in the open class however whilst Dylan was in California getting ready for the first Loretta Lynn’s qualifying race next weekend.

Jeff Perrett, Team Manager said:

“We’ve definitely had highs and lows this weekend. Lewis was phenomenal, even though he finished second. His starts have improved so much but due to his size to some of the other lads it’s still a mission to pull a holeshot, but once he gets rolling, oh my days! He was consistently two to three seconds a lap faster than the others and if not just for a couple of lapses in concentration he would’ve walked away with it. His second moto where he came from third from last to win by 11 seconds was something else. So many people were talking about it and quite right too, he was on another level.

“It was the complete opposite for Kacey. He struggled really badly and we’ll take the responsibility of that as a team because we were nowhere where we needed to be with his bike set up. It was totally off and shattered his confidence early on. He tried hard but got spat off a couple of times and ended up injuring his shoulder and it was just damage limitation after that, but he then had spills in the last two races in pain and it was just a disaster. We’ll now be working really hard in the week to get his set up right and get him back up to where he should be. You don’t win a British championship and then become a bad rider over night. 14th overall and bad day at the office and one we’ll learn from.

“Jed is still finding his way after all that time off for sure. Once he gets rolling he’s smooth and strong as always but a little bit of initial speed and aggression of the gate is lacking and that’s understandable after breaking both legs. To be fair, he still has a real issue with his ankle, it’s not right by a long shot and we’re going to get it looked at again. He’s still walking with a severe limp and that can’t be good. He also suffered with arm pump for the first race and bike set up but we improved that throughout the weekend and to finish seventh overall wasn’t too bad as he works back to fitness.”
