Tough day for LPE Kawasaki at Blaxhall

Blaxhall Circuit in Suffolk marked the start of the second half of the 2015 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship powered by Skye Energy. The sandy circuit was to be the second new venue of the season.
The Maxxis-sponsored LPE Kawasaki team arrived at the well-presented venue looking for strong results from Tanel Leok while Jamie Law was suffering with an old back injury and it was unsure how he would fair.

Morning qualifying saw Tanel post a strong lap time that would see him finish fourth fastest but with a slight bike issue he felt that he could go faster in the races. For Jamie qualifying went ok and saw him finish 17th fastest.
After lunch it was time for the opening race of the day and both Tanel and Jamie suffered from bad starts and would have to battle their way through the pack to the front. Tanel was making good progress early on but a crash mid race would see him have to start work all over again. For Jamie a long race saw him battle his way up to 14th at the finish with Tanel just ahead in 10th place.

The second race was much the same as the first race as both Tanel and Jamie had top 15 starts. In the opening laps Tanel moved up to as high as 8th before a crash dropped him back to 17th and with a lot of work to do to recover to 8th at the finish. Jamie rode another steady race to take 12th place.

The final race of the day saw Tanel make his best start of the day and quickly get up into second place and looking strong at the front. Tanel would continue to ride strong to finish third at the finish. Jamie’s final race of the day would see him take another solid 13th place finish.

Tanel finished the day in 5th overall and just two points off the podium, but remains in a strong second place in the championship. Jamie rode a consistent day and finished 14th overall and now sits 11th in the championship.

Tanel Leok – ‘It was a difficult day for me today as we had a slight bike issue in all of the sessions with the clutch so we need to look into this further. In the first two races I didn’t get the best of starts and crashed in both of the races which made it harder, but in the final race I rode much better to get third place.

’

Jamie Law – ‘I’m not one for making excuses but I’ve got a really bad back and I’ve damaged one of the discs so was unsure if I would even be able to ride. It’s been a tough day but I have managed to score some points for the championship.

’

Steve James – Team Manager – ‘It’s been a great weekend here at Blaxhall, the track is mega and venue looks great but it is just a shame that we didn’t get the best of the results. Jamie came into this weekend with a really bad back so we were unsure if he would be able to ride. After not riding all week to come out and get 14th overall is still good. Tanel has had a tough day with a clutch issue in the opening two races which meant that he didn’t get out of the gate well and then suffer crashes during the race. The last race was good to get third, we missed out on the podium for the first time this season which is a shame but we still managed to increase the lead for second in the championship so we are happy.’
