    Pace Tyre Test Results

Single Track Magazine and Mountain Bike Action.com loved the Maxxis Pace tyre.

    Single Track Magazine
Single Track Magazine described the Pace tyres as “superbly fast tools for the job”:

“The Pace is the equivalent of a low-profile Ikon. I’m a big fan of the Ikon on the rear of my XC bike so I was looking forward to giving its faster little brother a go. On the rear the Pace performs brilliantly on dry, hard packed trails and is very, very fast. It rides with virtually no perceptible drag on fire roads and tarmac and it really suits high mileage missions of the low-tech variety.

For a race-day tyre tackling hardpack and dry conditions, they are superbly fast tools for the job.” – Rachel Sokal, SingleTrackWorld.com, April 2017

    Mountain Bike Action
First impressions were positive; the Pace is a seriously fast tire. We noticed right away the minimal rolling resistance and the easier effort to keep the wheels moving. With the right pressure, the rear tire gripped well during steep, hard climbs and didn’t yield any unnecessary spin-outs. We spent most of our time testing on loose or hardpack terrain and felt confident with the traction.” – MBAction.com

    Pace Tyre: User Reviews

Sometimes the best reviews come from cross-country cyclists just like you.

    Rider, ChainReactionCycles, July 2016:
“Have both front and rear of these ( 29 x 2.1 ) on my Specialized Awol which I use for touring with full panniers (35 kgs) . Mine have 40psi rear and 35psi front. They weigh 635 and 605 grams. I Have taken some 2 day trips on them, so far and very pleased with them. Speed on tarmac is quite good, on hard and medium forestry roads speed is impressive. I also found them to be very stable and predictable on any surface with handling being excellent. Braking on all surfaces I found to be excellent. For me my riding is mainly touring using mostly mixed surfaces 60/40 probably in favour of tarmac. With regards to fitting the rear pumped up with a track pump first time however the front would not and I had to use a compressor. Both have had sealant put in in case of punctures. For the first weeks both tyres lost about 3psi but then settled down. Will I be buying any more, yes definitely. Good tyres and decent value.”

    Rider, ChainReactionCycles, July 2016:
“This is effectively a BMX tyre in 27.5in. Fast-rolling, nice round profile, light, fast accelerating. Good for Singletrack, paths, tarmac, pump tracks, XC, etc. I’m using these on my hardtail at the moment for general blatting about and really enjoying the ride.”

    EXO

An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain tires. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high.

    Tubeless Ready

Tubeless downhill set-ups are a great way to shave some weight and spend more time in the bike park or shuttling hot laps on your local runs. Sealant-compatible rubber is used with the familiar Maxxis dual-ply 60 TPI downhill construction and butyl insert for support and rim protection in order to offer the benefits of increased grip and reliability. A Tubeless Ready bead securely locks to the rim and the foldable bead provides additional weight savings.
