Earning the points he needed to win it all, Levi Shirley<\/a> clinched his Ultra 4 championship<\/a> at the season\u2019s last event, held October 16-17 in Reno, Nevada. Maxxis is the title sponsor of Shirley\u2019s vehicle.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c he race went good. I won the points overall,\u201d said Shirley. \u201cI could have driven harder [in the final race], but I had to keep the bigger picture in mind. It was a huge challenge not to drive harder. Any time that helmet goes on, it\u2019s like you\u2019re a different person. I\u2019m competitive when it comes to everything from checkers to racing; I\u2019m just wired that way. I was fifth, so I was in the top five [for the day].\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year, when I was European champion overseas, I told myself I was going to win the U.S. championship,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe have our share of ups and downs through the year, and it\u2019s funny how we never gave up. We\u2019ve persevered. My Maxxis tires were great. At this race, the track was full of rocks. he terrain was some of the nastiest we\u2019ve faced all year. I didn\u2019t have one single failure throughout practice and qualifying, prelims and finals. I\u2019ll race King of the Hammers on those same tires. We\u2019ve got the SEMA<\/a> show right around the corner in about two weeks, and I\u2019m looking forward to a little bit of down time with the family, too.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n
