Maxxis Dominates Podium at Val Di Fassa EWS

Val Di Fassa Enduro World Series.

Round four of the 2019 Enduro World Series (EWS) in Canazei, Italy, was one for the books! Set amongst a stunning mountain backdrop, the weekend’s action was sure to be just as captivating.

After being suspended for the first part of the season, Richie Rude (Yeti/Fox Factory Team) returned to racing in spectacular form, winning stage one and setting the tone for the weekend. He would continue to dominate, winning four of the five stages, and claim victory 18.96s ahead of second place. Florian Nicolai of Canyon Factory Racing was also on his game in Val Di Fassa, coming in third on the weekend.

In the Elite Women’s field, Andreane Lanthier Nadeau of the Rocky Mountain/Race Face Enduro Team brought it home in second place overall. She rode consistently in all stages, never finishing outside the top four, and won the fourth stage. Kona Factory Team’s Miranda Miller landed just outside the top ten, finishing eleventh in the brutal Italian heat.

In a bit of bad news, Jesse Melamed (Rocky Mountain/Race Face Enduro Team) crashed hard on stage one, breaking both his left hand and leg. Coming into this round Melamed was second in the overall EWS standings. We hope to see him back to racing for at Crankworx Whistler. Bex Baraona (Ibis) crashed in practice before the race, breaking two ribs. Maxxis wishes a speedy and full recovery to both Baraona and Melamed.

Round five of the EWS is July 5-6 in Les Orres, France.
