The mountain bike world converged on Whistler, BC for the wrap-up of Crankworx 2024 World Tour, and the entire week couldn’t have gone better for athletes and spectators.
Maxxis riders were on point for every event, beginning with Rockshox Canadian Open DH, when Dakotah Norton (Mondraker Factory Racing) took second place in Elite Men, Luca Shaw (Canyon CLLCTV) took third, and Emmy Lan (Forbidden Bikes) and Matilda Melton (Transition Factory Racing) took second and third place in Elite Women.
Victories in both Elite Men and Elite Women went to Maxxis in the Garbanzo DH, with Richie Rude (Yeti F0x) and Georgia Astle (Devinci Cycles) taking the wins and Emmy Lan joining Astle on the Women’s podium in second place.
In Air DH, Jill Kintner (Pivot Cycles) topped the Elite Women’s podium with Georgia Astle in third place, and Jackson Frew (We Are One) and Richie Rude were second and third in Elite Men. Frew followed up by taking the victory in Elite Men’s Dual Slalom, with Ella Conolly (Cannondale Bikes) taking second place in Elite Women.
Caroline Buchanan (Trek Bikes) took first place and Kaia Jensen (Transition Bikes) third place in Elite Women’s Speed and Style, while Garret Mechem (Commencal Bikes) and Jackson Frew were second and third in Elite Men.
Women competed in the Red Bull Joyride (Slopestyle) for the first time at this year’s Whistler, and Natasha Miller (Commencal Bikes) made sure that Maxxis was represented on the podium by taking second place. Later that day, Kialani Hines (TLD) earned second place in Pump Track.
The week ended on an especially high note for Maxxis with the Canadian Open Enduro, when Jesse Melamed (Canyon CLLCTV) and Ella Conolly took the victories in both Elite Men and Elite Women, and Remi Gauvin (Rocky Mountain Gravity Racing) made the Elite Men’s podium in second place and Flo Espiñeira (Orbea Fox Enduro Team) took third place in Elite Women’s.
Crankworx 2024 couldn’t have been better or more exciting, and we’re already psyched for next year!
