EWS Sugarloaf: Maxxis Crushes at New Venue

For its second round in the USA, the Enduro World Series headed to a new venue in Sugarloaf, Maine. Fresh off his win in Burke, Richie Rude (Yeti Fox Factory) was hungry to move up the overall leaderboard, with Jesse Melamed (Rocky Mountain Race Face) in first position and Jack Moir (Canyon CLLCTV) behind Richie in third on the season.

Sugarloaf brought fresh, raw tracks that would challenge the whole field. First up: the Pro Stage. Bex Baraona (Yeti Fox Factory) held on for fifth place in Elite Women. Melamed, Rude, Moir, and Martin Maes (Orbea Enduro Team) secured second through fifth positions on the day. In U21 Women, Sophie Riva (Ancillotti Team) continued her hot streak, taking the Pro Stage win, while Emmett Hancock (We Are One) snagged third in U21 Men.

Racers took on five more difficult stages on Sunday. Jesse Melamed admirably gained back time and ended up taking the win after a race full of ups and downs. Martin Maes landed on the podium in second after putting together a very consistent day of riding. Baraona took the second spot on the Elite Women’s podium, and Ella Connolly (Cannondale Bikes) slotted into third. Sophie Riva maintained her lead and placed first in U21 Women, while Emmett Hancock managed to move up a position into second in U21 Men.
