MTBR recently published their Gear of the Year list for 2022, and Maxxis’ Dissector and Rekon tire combo made the cut alongside other brand’s prestigious products.

Editorial Director Josh Patterson: “Many of last season’s bike launches focused on fast and light trail bikes, such as the redesigned Santa Cruz Tallboy. As a result, a lot of bikes I rode came equipped with Maxxis’ Dissector and Rekon tires mounted to the front and back, respectively.” To meet the needs of a bike industry focused on short travel yet extremely capable machines, Maxxis put together a tire combo that lets riders get full satisfaction from their downcountry bikes.

“The Dissector has abundant edge grip and enough space between knobs to deal with loose and rocky terrain, while the Rekon is fast-rolling, predictable through turns and breaks [and] seems to break grip at just the right point through turns,” Josh said.
