Rude Wins EWS Northstar, Nadeau takes 3rd in Women's Pro
In a nail-biter finish, Richie Rude won EWS Northstar California by less than a second in the final stage of the race.
No one made the rocky chunder look smooth, except Rude. ?@maddogboris
The Yeti Cycles/Fox Shox Factory Team rider held the lead for the first three stages of the round, the next-to-last of the season. But another rider took the overall lead in Stage 4, adding extra uncertainty to an already dramatic contest. In the sixth and final stage, Rude won by .81 seconds, the narrowest win in the history of the series.
Rude was joined in the men’s top five by fellow Maxxis-sponsored rider Jesse Melamed (Rocky Mountain/Race Face Enduro Team) in fifth.
Melamed, freshly healed, and back on his game. ?@maddogboris
Andreane Lanthier Nadeau (Rocky Mountain/Race Face Enduro Team) took the women’s Stage 5 victory and was third overall for Maxxis, with Canyon Factory Racing’s Ines Thoma (Canyon Factory Racing) in fourth place.
Nadeau came in third on virtually every stage, except the one she won. ?@maddogboris
Staying consistently in the top five through the stages, Thoma brought home fourth on the day. ?@maddogboris
Other Maxxis-sponsored riders turned in notable performances, including Cody Kelley, who landed in the men’s top ten in seventh place and Matt Walker (Pivot Factory Racing) who was ninth. Shawn Neer (Yeti/Fox Shox) earned 11th place, Remi Gauvin (Rocky Mountain/Race Face Enduro Team) was 12th, and series leader Florian Nicolai (Canyon Factory Racing) was 13th. Eddie Masters (Pivot Factory Racing) was taken out of contention in Northstar when he broke his wrist on the first day of racing.
Kelley spared no time for show around Lake Tahoe. ?@maddogboris
Everyone was doing their best to hang on this weekend, Walker showing he had the the grip let it send. ?@maddogboris
Miranda Miller (Kona Factory Team) made the women’s top ten in ninth place. Rae Morrison (BBCL NZ Arapi Enduro Team) took 11th place and Bex Baraona (Ibis Cycles Enduro Race Team) was 14th.
MIller just bringing that derailure through the rocky snags ?@maddogboris
Morrison stayed on her game and put in a great result. ?@maddogboris
