UHC’s Abbott Wins Tour of El Salvador

The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team’s Mara Abbott took the overall victory at the Tour of El Salvador, held March 11-16.

Abbott’s win on Stage 4, earned by way of a solo attack, put her on track to take the overall. Her teammates aided her in hanging on to the leader’s jersey during the fifth and final stage, protecting her through the finish line. “We knew we had a chance of winning this race with Mara’s great form and the well-balanced roster we’ve assembled,” said Rachel Heal, the team’s sports director. “The team rode strong and smart all week, keeping the climbers within striking distance of the yellow jersey. Mara worked her magic with that fantastic solo attack yesterday and the team was able to defend today, with Hannah even earning a podium result in the final sprint! It’s great to work with such a talented and cohesive group of riders, able to work together and create these fantastic results.”

Maxxis congratulates Mara Abbott and thanks all of the riders of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team’s for their usual outstanding performances. To read more about this this exciting race, please visit http://pelotonmagazine.com/the-ring/dispatch-vuelta-el-salvador-march-14th-2014/.
