Maxxis T Razr - Winner of the A-Design Prize 2020

The ultra-modern T Razr tyre from Maxxis won the A-design award in 2020 thanks to its smart design and inspiring and innovative solution to create a safer and more affordable tyre for the global tyre market.

The future of the automotive industry is clear: electric cars, intelligent safety systems and a focus on saving and redistributing energy generated while driving. Maxxis T Razr tire/rim station wagon has been awarded the A-design award 2020 thanks to its future design and its safe place in automotive development.

T Razr is designed to actively sense different road conditions and adapt its contact surface accordingly; improved draught, grip, comfort and thus safety.

With electromagnetic technology, the tyre adapts its ACR to acceleration, cornering and braking of the vehicle. Fans on the rim open to cool the brake pads and adjust the wheel’s air resistance to provide an intuitive performance, as required by tomorrow’s vehicles.

These tyres can be programmed into sport or comfort charged mode, where the sport mode allows electromagnetic areas of the tyre pattern to increase the contact surface by activating the side wall as part, for extra grip and safety. The comfort mode activates electromagnetic areas of the pattern to get the tire into traditional position, with contact between the pattern areas creating friction that is converted into electricity to charge the electromagnets to power the sport mode.

T Razr has been developed with G sensor technology created by Maxxis. G sensors detect movements in the vehicle and communicate with the electromagnetic system for intelligent control of tyre performance. For example, when the G sensor detects a forward movement in the tire, it will adapt the shape of the tire to increase traction. In addition, when the vehicle turns right, the G sensor will sense the centrifugal force on the left and adapt only one side of the tire to provide the best draught for the angle of the curve.

This tire is designed in lightweight. Maxxi’s R&D lab around the world is now heavily involved in research for production on a larger scale, to ensure that this concept benefits drivers all over the world.
