Clean sweep at home for Pendrich Kawasaki

Round two of the Scottish Motocross Nationals took place this past weekend at none other than the Duns Motocross track nestled in the Scottish borders with both Lee Perfect and Bryan Mackenzie on hand and ready to get at it.

Lee showed his intentions towards claiming the Scottish Rookies championship in his first season since moving into the category by continuing on his form from his last moto win at round one. On what can be considered his local track as it lies only 40 miles south of his home, Lee dominated the qualifying and first race taking the top spot in each comfortably.

In the second race of the day however, ‘The Kid’ had to work for it. After a slow start Lee pushed forward into second place before his charge to the front stalled slightly when he came up against his most prominent rival for the title, Dylan Carnegie. The two had an awesome battle and swapped positions a few times before our guy settled in at the point of the field and eventually rode on to another comfortable race win to mark his second of the day.

The final moto of the day was pretty text book; Start to finish leading the way en route to claiming maximum points for the day and taking a commanding lead in the championship.

Come Sunday it was Bryan’s turn to throw a leg over the bike in the Scottish National class. A lot of rain was passing through the area in the morning and with it brought some of the slickest conditions known to knobbly tyres. The conditions were tough to handle as traction was minimal at best on the surface which had been baked hard from the pounding it took on Saturday.

Tyre choice at the weekend was critical as everyone looked for an advantage to get one over on the opposition and find the best possible way to lay down power on the polished dirt surface as Bryan Mackenzie explains:  ‘Luckily for me, I had a few exceptional tyre options from Maxxis which potentially gave me the advantage over the other riders as I was able to fine tune my bike right down to the point of contact with the dirt and was able to come up with a winning set-up that I was really comfortable with.’

After poling qualifying Bryan went on to take all 3 race wins to claim an overall win for Round 2.

When asked about the race, Bryan added: ‘I must have been one of the most comfortable (and I say that loosely) on the limited amount of traction as I soon made my way into the lead where I stayed for the rest of the moto to record my first win of the day. Race two and three started much better pulling a couple of sweet whole shots on my KX250f in amongst the MX1 bikes. From then on it was plain sailing and I was able to lead the entirety of the two races en route to taking 3 races wins plus the overall win and extending my points lead in the championship along the way to end a highly successful home round for the team.’
