Dominant weekend for LPE Kawasaki at MX Nationals and Pro National Festival

The last weekend of May saw the LPE Kawasaki head to the coastal town of Weston Super Mare for the Pro National Festival, which featured the fourth round of the MX Nationals on Saturday.

The weekend with the MX Nationals competing on Saturday and in the morning qualifying session both Tanel Leok and Jamie Law producing fast lap times, with Tanel taking pole position and Jamie in 8th place.

In the first race of the day both Tanel and Jamie started inside the top and quickly set about progressing forward. After a couple of laps Tanel was into second place and battling with Graeme Irwin for the race win and would take the lead at the halfway point and the race win. Jamie also rode a solid race to finish in seventh.

The second and final race of the MX Nationals event saw Tanel take the holeshot and a produce a solid race win from start to finish. For Jamie it was to be a tough race after a bad start saw him down outside the top 20 at the end of the first lap and had to battle hard to finish in 8th place and 6th in the MX1 class.
Tanel’s two race wins gave him the overall victory and Jamie claim 6th overall.

Also competing on the weekend was the teams youth rider Ben James in the MXY2 class. The weekend started with qualifying and Ben finished 24th fastest. During the four race, Ben would produce a number of solid starts and ride well to finish just outside the points in the first race in 23rd and then take 19th and 18th in the second and third race before suffering a DNF in the final race of the weekend.

The Sunday would see Tanel and Jamie both compete in the Pro Nationals Festival and start the day by finishing 4th and 5th fastest in qualifying.

In the opening race of the day Tanel continued his winning streak and took another race win ahead of Graeme Irwin, while Jamie Law produced a solid race to finish in 6th.

The second race of the day saw Tanel round off a great weekend with another race win to make it four out of four wins, this time by over 30 seconds and take another overall victory. For Jamie the last race of the weekend saw him take a well-earned third place to claim fifth overall and finish just 3 points off a podium finish.

The team now prepare for the fourth round of the Maxxis British Championship at Hawkstone Park this weekend.

Tanel Leok: I had a good weekend. Saturday the weather and track were perfect. In the first race I didn’t have a good start but managed to take lead after some laps. At the end of the race I had a small crash but the lead was good enough to take the win. In the second race the start was much better and I was second and after half a lap I was leading and felt really good with my riding and won the race again. On Sunday the track was smoother but it was very windy which made jumping a bit difficult. In both moto’s I had good starts and the holeshot. I was a bit more careful because of the wind but overall it was good to win both moto’s again and have perfect weekend.

Jamie Law: I really enjoyed the weekend and felt like my speed was ok, Saturday a crash in the first corner spoiled my chances of a better overall. Sunday I had two good starts and ran top 3 in both motos but got sideways in 1 of the whoop sections in moto 1 and tasted the Weston sand, but overall it was a positive weekend for me and the team and I’m looking forward to Hawkstone.

Ben James: Overall it was a good and bad weekend for me with some crashes which affected my results but I was happy with my riding and had good starts all weekend. It was unfortunate with a bike problem in the last race but we move onto the next race now.

Steve James – Team Manager: It’s been a great weekend here at Weston. We came here for a weekend of testing in race conditions. On the Saturday Tanel and Jamie competed in the MX Nationals event and Tanel rode great and took two race wins while Jamie had some good results for 6th overall. On the Sunday Tanel and Jamie took part in the Pro Nationals Festival and Tanel rode mega once again and took two more race wins. Jamie also produced some mega results and missed the overall podium by just 3 points. If it hadn’t been for the crash in the first race he would have got third overall. Also competing this weekend was Ben in the MXY2 class and he had four solid rides and if it wasn’t for a bike problem in the final race he would have had a better overall result better he is happy for his riding. Overall it has been a great weekend and to win all four races is mega and has given the whole team a massive boast and we look forward to heading to Hawkstone this weekend for the next round of the Maxxis.
