Marsden and Maxxis Victorious at Breslau Rally 2018

Off-road 4×4 legend Jim Marsden piloted his Gigglepin Racing ORA-Offender to victory in the Car Open Ex category of this year’s Rallye Breslau. Partnered by two of his most trusted allies – co-pilot Helder Da Rocha and Maxxis M8060 Trepador tyres – Marsden completed the epic eight-day race across some of Poland’s most inhospitable terrain in phenomenal 26 hours, 33 minutes and 33 seconds, reaching the chequered flag more than 20 minutes faster than his closest competitor. Despite the gruelling terrain and non-stop action, the team was happy to report flawless grip throughout the 1,500-km race.

The win in 2018 is Marsden’s second time standing on the top step of the Poland podium, having first won the race in 2015 and comes straight off the back of a stunning victory for Marsden at Ultra4 Europe’s King of France. These two titles are just part of an impressive portfolio of 30 titles the Brit has held with the majority being achieved with the help of Maxxis rubber. This year’s victory had the Gigglepin machine dealing with extreme mud, deep water, trees and a whole host of other obstacles, but again emerged triumphant, with a clearly pleased driver. As Marsden confirmed:

“We work tirelessly all year to be competitive at these events. The Breslau rally is a challenging and unique event due to the terrain being so varied. You also cover and race the course with all different kinds of vehicles meaning the Maxxis shod ORA-Offender has been tested on all sorts of levels and come through with flying colours. How the tyres have stood up to those conditions to come out largely unscathed is beyond me. Maxxis support has been crucial to my success in recent years, so long may the Trepador continue to rule the 4×4 roost!”

Marsden and the Gigglepin racing team will now head to Bulgaria to try and continue their winning streak in the Balkan Offroad Rallye in September as well as competing in the remaining rounds of the Ultra4 Europe Series.
